Career Opportunities

Staff Scientist in RNA Biology

A staff scientist position is available in the Fazal lab to study the organization of RNAs within cells. The Fazal lab is a young laboratory focusing on systematically interrogating the subcellular transcriptomes of mammalian cells and characterizing the scope, regulation, and function of subcellular localization, particularly at the systems and organismal level. Required qualification includes molecular biology knowledge in DNA and RNA manipulations such as purification and quantification, PCR, qPCR, and restriction enzyme digestion. Apply here or contact Dr. Furqan Fazal (furqan.fazal@bcm.edu)

Postdoctoral Position in RNA Biology

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Fazal lab to study the organization of RNAs within cells. The Fazal lab focuses on systematically interrogating the subcellular transcriptomes of mammalian cells and characterizing the scope, regulation, and function of subcellular localization, particularly at the systems and organismal level. Fazal’s lab interests span from computational to wet-lab work, though the ideal candidate should have experience in molecular biology, RNA biology, cell biology, and/or informatics. The lab uses a variety of biochemical, biophysical, imaging, genomic and computational approaches to investigate the sequence-function relationship dictating RNA localization. Apply here or contact Dr. Furqan Fazal (furqan.fazal@bcm.edu).

STAFF Scientist in Discovery Biology

The THINC therapeutic team is looking to add a motivated scientist with experience in discovery cell biology! The ideal candidate should have extensive experience with functional genomic and/or chemical genetic approaches to identify therapeutic targets and characterize the consequences of target perturbation. The candidate will lead a team studying target mechanism of action, modeling disease, and pharmacology in cancer and other disease and normal contexts that involve RNA dysregulation. Apply here or contact Dr. Kristen Karlin (meerbrey@bcm.edu)!

Bioinformatician in RNA Biology

The Fazal lab is seeking a bioinformatics analyst to develop and apply genomic analysis tools to identify cis- and trans- factors associated with RNA localization. The Fazal lab is a young laboratory focusing on systematically interrogating the subcellular transcriptomes of mammalian cells and characterizing the scope, regulation, and function of subcellular localization, particularly at the systems and organismal level. Preferred qualification includes prior experience analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including read quality assessment, mapping to genomic sequence, and quantifying mapped reads. Apply here or contact Dr. Furqan Fazal (furqan.fazal@bcm.edu).
